Dogs
Onions, peppers, peppers, peppers, onions, garlic and other highly irritating foods are not suitable for dogs to eat. Because these foods will irritate the dog's gastrointestinal tract, they will not only cause inflammation, but also affect the dog's senses.
Onions contain n-propyl disulfide, a toxic component. After your dog eats it, hemoglobin can be oxidized into Heinz's bodies. The reticuloendothelial system contains a large amount of Heinz's body. The red blood cells of the body then cause acute hemolytic anemia and damage the bone marrow.
Generally, dogs weighing 15-25 kilograms will develop severe anemia within 7-8 days after eating an onion of an average size. Within 1-2 days after eating, it seems that the sick dogs will have red or dark red hemoglobin urine, and at the same time, they will experience symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, depression, palpitations, and splenomegaly. Feeding a small amount of onions for a long time can cause chronic poisoning in dogs, causing jaundice and anemia.
Dogs with onion poisoning can recover naturally if they stop feeding onions. For patients with severe hemolysis, glucose and Ringer's solution should be given, along with subcutaneous injection of cardiotonic agents such as sodium sodium and diuretics (furosemide), and blood transfusions if necessary.
